Farrell Fritz is excited to host the 2026 Mentoring Committee Program kick-off event, organized by NYSBA’s Commercial & Federal Litigation Section, next week on April 21, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. at Farrell Fritz’s New York City office (622 3rd Avenue, New York, NY). At the kick-off event, mentors and mentees will participate in guided networking, supported by light ice-breaking activities to help spark conversation and connection over cocktails and light snacks.

The mentorship program will run through December 2026 and is focused on facilitating career-long relationships between mentors and mentees, not only based on practice areas but also on personal interests, geographical location, and personal/professional compatibility. In addition to the upcoming kick-off event, the ComFed section will host mentorship program events throughout the year.

Mentorship nurtures qualities and techniques critical for success. While in law school, young attorneys are taught the technical proficiencies necessary to begin their careers. However, successful advocacy requires skill sets and training beyond the textbooks, most of which is learned through meaningful discussions with experienced professionals who offer a wealth of knowledge, serve as ethical guides, and deepen understanding of the profession. The benefits of mentorship are mutually experienced by mentors and mentees alike. Diversity in experiences, viewpoints, and backgrounds allows all involved to expand their knowledge and networks. A culture of mentorship bridges tradition and innovation, especially during a time of substantial technological, environmental, and societal change that directly influences the legal profession.

Members of ComFed are encouraged to serve as mentors and attend the kick-off event. Inquiries and registration should be addressed to Program Co-Chairs Serene Carino (SCarino@FarrellFritz.com) and Laurel Kretzing (lkretzing@jaspanllp.com).
